A few weeks ago, I talked about Count Rubin who lied about whistleblowers. This is what GMC Chair Count Rubin told the British Medical Journal while flapping his rather large bat wings.
"Raising Concerns (2006) makes clear that provided doctors have been honest, raising a concern is justified even if it turns out to be groundless"Of course, Professor Rubin is a toothy lying old bat. I say that because a few weeks after this statement in the British Medical Journal, the General Medical Council found that a whistleblower called Dr Korashi was guilty of misconduct. His crime was to raise concerns about a Dr A. Apparently, South Wales Police could find no case to answer. Then we all know how hapless South Wales Police really are. I wrote about them some months ago. A summary can be read here.
This is what the panel stated
"The panel's ruling stated it accepted Dr Korashi's clinical competence had never been in question and he had been "motivated by concerns of patient safety".He was found guilty of misconduct and had conditions placed on his registration. So what is the value of Count Rubin's crowings in the BMJ? He has misled the public and essentially lied to them. It shows us that the GMC's PR machine will say one thing and their machine room will ensure the opposite is done. They hope of course that the papers do not put 2 and 2 together and we can see that the media have presented the GMC's press release. We haven't actually been given Korashi's side of the tale.It stated: "However, it is of the view that you still need to address aspects of your conduct in relation to working with others and your approach to protecting patient safety."
Rubin would not call it lying through his fangs but there is no other word we can use. The General Medical Council has a pattern of attacking whistleblowers. The GMC lulls the medical profession and the public into a false sense of security then pounces on the whistleblowers via the back door. I remain unimpressed with the General Medical Council's two faced behaviour. They are incapable of understanding the problems faced by whistleblowers and often take part in sham peer reviews and mobbing. I once called the GMC an abuser. I stand by that.

"toothy lying old bat" ROFL
Yes and with real blood on his hands. In 2004 9 of 215 doctors died whilst under General Medical Council Supervision. In that year, there were a further 3 deaths following Interim Orders Panel hearings.
With that record, would you want the GMC to babysit your children? I think not!
My sources tell me that the General Medical Council is being investigated in order to understanding better what happens to doctors after they have come before a Fitness to Practice. Whether the GMC provides the information to the investigating organisation is uncertain.
The purpose and outcome of this investigation is also not clear. Nonetheless, I understand the first steps towards setting up the inquiry are under way.
Of course, if too much is made public about the impending inquiry, there is a real threat that the GMC will not allow the investigation to continue. Nonetheless, the signs look hopeful that the GMC is concerned to look again at what happens to doctors following "treatment" by its Fitness to Practice panels.
Hopefully, as a result of this inquiry, more data will be made public and it will be possible to evaluate whether or not the GMC has any real insight into its behaviour
