The third issue is the fact that I know [ and the authorities know that I know :)] that Nu Labour, their adjacent authorities etc strategically sought to cover up the issues at North Staffordshire NHS Trust. I use the word cover up because scientifically thats all you can say about it. The actual dates that should be considered by the public are these - the date of inception of Ward 87 to 2005. So thats just about 5 years ago. I find that most people in authority like to think of this issue as history and the fact we should shut it down so that no one remembers it. My concern is this, if they are doing this to Ward 87, how many other wards, hospitals etc have they done it to.
My view is a little different. Firstly, it worries me that there was no accountability for Ward 87. It also worries me that the CQC maliciously told me that whistleblowers could not raise concerns with them. They subsequently [ 4 years later] admitted that this advice was wrong. The GMC on the other hand stopped being pro-active because lets face it everyone at the GMC has the intellect of a amoeba! Their excuse is that they couldn't read my original typed complaint. Rod Griffiths blames the GMC, the GMC blames Rod Griffiths and between them they look quite amusing if not laughable. I felt that it was mean to point out that I had added the BMA summary in the complaint in 2000. I suspect they couldn't read that either. Throughout my quest for accountability, I have found that people don't read, they develop the devastating effects of selective memory loss and in the end they expect me to sit around analyzing their mistakes. Of course, busy people have better things to do.
Then there were the multiple MPs. I have to speak of the new cabinet minister Andrew Mitchell MP who has been as much use as lettuce leaf. He is one of those Conservatives who got to where he is by never applying his brain. I quite like the rest of the Conservatives of course. Just that, I was fated to have a intellectually inept MP who fails to read the documents in front of him. Reading is a skill and Mitchell has a ego of a space ship. Sadly, his intellect does not match this ego. He makes the excuse that MPs can only do so much. Of course, its called lip service.
So what's in it for me? Well, nothing is in it for me. I am simply aggrieved that the system can f** up people's lives for years and not be held accountable. I am offended by the manner in which the GMC treated me. I am offended by the fact that the Department of Health, the General Medical Council and a number of authorities lied to me until 2005. They told me that there was no evidence base to my concerns while knowing full well what the truth was. I am now supposed to be big hearted and forgive them for this misdemeanor. Of course, there is no forgiveness for people who are liars - that is of course until they acknowledge their fault. Of course, that will never happen.
So it has taken me a total of 7 years to even get the GMC to acknowledge that I was right about Ward 87. Now our grand regulatory body of maximum supremacy says nothing about their conduct. They whinge between themselves in a critical manner about my emails, my manner and the way I have never given up.
In time, it will be established how these authorities failed hundreds of patients. I am already part way there. When that happens, I shall stand on top of the mountain and smirk at all of them. The system is bad but in my case, the system was malicious. Following that malice, they expect us all to forgive and forget. I am not that big hearted.
Indeed, history is made by those who write it. And I am the one re-writing the history of Ward 87 and re-editing the way Nu Labour wrote it.
