I am going to say one thing - the mainstream media has never ever featured the plight of junior doctors who they hold with contempt. Dr Scot Jnr's story has died a death. I note that the mail of Sunday exchanged Dr Scot Jnr's story for Dr Robin Roberts. Will he disappear into the black hole where all juniors go to?
In any case, we have all lost, some people's losses are clearly more important than others. That is the difference between a junior doctor and a consultant. It is called "consultant sparkle". There is a fascination with the Danielle Steel perfection and subsequent fall from grace. The tale of the idyllic English family and their suffering. Suffering is of course relative.
I am of course cynical because I have seen too many doctors at the depths of despair so I have a relatively blunted sense of emotion to this story. I have also seen too many doctors being shafted by the Medical Protection Society with nothing left at the end. Some doctors do not have the fortune that Dr Roberts had - namely representation, compensation and their lives returned back. Looking at it from a panoramic view - the MPS could have done better in this case. They could have prevented a GMC referral and much much more. This entire charade will now remain on his record forever. That is of course justice - in the NHS - USSR style. He is actually very lucky to have got away with his mental state intact and his family. It might well be tragic to have swapped his Ferrari for a Renault Clio. Most people lose everything and even have to catch the bus or worse still - walk :)
