DA VINCI

Da Vinci

I promised my mate Declan that I would give his band a plug. I love Declan's music. Actually, I am one of his biggest fans. That is because I love his tight leather pants :). Seriously, he is a married man and I can't say such things but I say them anyway and he tells me he can cope. Nevertheless, Declan is a man who has a talent for words and music. Declan and I came across each other completely by accident. I was completely blown over by his music. What is interesting about Declan is that we may not speak for months but when we do speak - it is as if there was never any time in between. The other interesting thing about Declan is that he speaks deeply about many things in life and the world. I am grateful to Dec because he appeared at a time when I needed a good friend. He wasn't there to judge me or my past, he was simply there to be a good mate - and he always has been. His infamous phonecall to me was from the Highlands in Scotland. He had been sitting on a mountain and he suddenly thought about how I was - rang me after months and told me about the view around him. Anyway, with Dec, time passes just talking about the world and everything in it. I have a great deal of admiration and respect for him. This is the band's website. They should be getting more attention than they do. Declan has some radical lyrics. Declan knows about suppression of free speech within the medical profession.

Music can be downloaded from here. My favourite is Light Me - Declan is supposed to be recording a new version for me [ so he says].

The BBC featured them here.

Da Vinci are a four piece Prog-tastic Rock band from Worcestershire.

Former Blame Academy members Declan Sharma and Vinnie Liotta teamed up with Rock Watson and Jozepi Godrhino to form this rare and unique ensemble who's influences include Del Amitri, Queen, The Who, Rush, Peter Gabriel, Be Bop Deluxe, REM, Jethro Tull and Dream Theater to name but a few!!

Fronted by the incredible Declan Sharma (vox, guitar, keys and mandolin) Da Vinci really are a piece of Prog - Rock heaven! And with their debut Opera : Razor Blade World already under their belts it's onwards and upwards for these guys thats for sure!!

Vinnie Liotta brings guitar reminiscent of Satriani and Brian May with his exotic and melodic legato counterpoints which contrasts to Rock's more laid back and rhythmic basslines all held together by the powerful and elaborate drum styley of Jozepi Godrhino. And it has to be said that Declan is a great countertenor with a voice that really grabs your attention because of it's tone and range.
