These are the defences
1. I was only acting according to GMC guidance gov
2. Digging further dirt.
Support for Dr Scot Jnr is currently racking up slowly but gradually
Simple matters for many doctors can become very complex when they are at the hands of the medical establishment. I should know. Tariq Zaman was a London Deanery case. A simple matter expands until charges are added midway, so much so that no one understands the initial allegation. What did Zaman have to say
"The GMC charged me for bringing a racial discrimination claim against the London Deanery in employment tribunal who treated me differently than others and victimized me on the ground of race. I gathered evidences against the Deanery by tape recording conversation of a colleague who was treated differently than me. The Deanery was fearful of these evidence and complaint to the GMC against me to victimize me and to cause me detrimentWe have no idea whether Elizabeth Paice was involved in this but she was involved in another case about Mr Bhadra.
This repetitive conduct of Elizabeth Paice is shown again in the case of Dr Scot Jnr. The problem with Paice this time is this - instead of picking on a downtrodden asian who has no backing, she picks on a rebel braveheart with a rabble backing him.
The Register today kindly featured a excellent article. The story was supplied by me to the Register some weeks ago. I know the Register well. I also know that a story on the Register means the world tech news will circulate it internationally. While recovering from my pneumonia, I have been observing how the story has been unfolding :).
The problem with the London Deanery is that it is now digging itself deeper into troubled waters. This is what happens when you open your mouth without using a fragment of cerebral input.
A spokeswoman for the London Deanery said today: “From our point of view it was a very minor incident. [Professor Paice] acted in accordance with the General Medical Council’s good practice guidance.”
The spokeswoman said Paice made no recommendation as to how the Highland Deanery should react to Dr Scot Jr’s posting, and speculated that there may be more to the suspension than publicly known.
There are number of issues of interest.
1. Phrase Number 1 "Minor Incident". If it was a minor incident, there was no requirement to report it to the Highland Deanery. The only reason Paice had for reporting this incident is to cause a reprimand by way of a suspension. We don't see Paice coming on record in the public domain telling the world she does not approve of the suspension. Has she got enough guts to say that publicly? Paice knows the impact of informing Scot Jnr's employer. Paice knows the repurcussions and now relies on Good Medical Practise guidance to cover her. She relies on the GMC to protect her. Well, the problem with that is the comment on the internet forum is not covered by GMC Guidance. A newspaper sometime ago suggested that she may have recommended the suspension. Elizabeth's personality type is to engage a series of events that
to her is a fitting punishment. Of course, Liz has never seen rebellion like this before. For years she has either called trouble makers mad or referred them for counselling. Perhaps now she requires a good set of counsellors.
This is what the Inverness Courier stated
“His views were seen by members of the London Deanery — which oversees postgraduate training for over 8500 doctors and dentists nationwide — who contacted their Highland counterparts and instructed NHS Highland to suspend the doctor.” “But unfortunately for him someone was looking over his shoulder. Professor Elisabeth Paice, another senior figure in the medical establishment, spotted the posting, reported it, and NHS Highland was prevailed upon to suspend the doctor.”
As Remedy UK again pointed out
"Lis Paice, the London Dean, wrote in a British Journal of Hospital Medicine Update that:"Suspension from clinical duties pending investigation, although a neutral act, may be felt as punitive by the trainee. It is not always necessary. Often it is possible to restrict the range of activities of the trainee to exclude those considered high risk, bearing in mind the nature of the triggering incident."
So what is the sanction for a "MINOR INCIDENT".
2. GMC Guidance. The London Deanery refuses to address WHICH Rule in the GUIDANCE this was. The last mess that Paice made of the Good Medical Practise Guidance is listed here. Having made this total bungle, Paice has asked her Spokeman to do the honours and speak to the media. This will mean she can tell the GMC " Ah but I didn't say it, our spokesman did". I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that she was referred to the GMC recently [x2] for misleading the public on GMC Guidance. That is of course tantamount to dishonesty.
3. Now there was no cause for concern regarding Dr Scot until Paice placed her pointy nose into his life. The London Deanery states
"speculated that there may be more to the suspension than publicly known"
And we quote from the newspapers "NHS Highland stresses it has no concerns about his work and Professor Black, who is based in London, has no reason ever to have any personal contact with him".
The problem with speculation London Deanery is that, resorting to libel makes the Deanery quite vulnerable. "May Be More" to the suspension may well be tantamount to further victimisation by casting aspersions on the doctor's work. Then I suspect, desperate Deaneries in the shit need to resort to mudslinging don't they? Woolly statements are very useful for me because it gives us all a guide to their snidy corrupt thought processes. Paice has to be saved, they will dig up any amount of dirt now to justify the suspension. Indeed, Remedy UK pointed out that dirt digging in medical college files was currently afoot.
"One of the bloggers has rumoured that officials are poring over his medical student records searching for reasons to justify prolonging his anguish"
There are very few tactics the elite medical profession uses. It is very simple to predict once you have been through it. I am though amused at their reaction to publicity. Of course, trouble for them has never been quite like this - because for most doctors, there isn't a backing team of angry rebellious doctors. Perhaps they picked on the wrong person this time. Professor Paice is now attempting to dissociate herself from the antics at Highland Deanery. In truth, she cannot dissociate herself from anything now. She doesn't know it yet but this time, the rabble demand her resignation. How many doctors scalps does she have on her mantelpiece? Paice of course is clever, she is astute and she knows how to cover her tracks. She has not survived her position of power simply being being a shrinking violet. She has survived because she eats junior doctors for dinner. Those junior doctors can never defend themselves. Dr Scot Jnr is just one doctor. There are many others. Indeed, perhaps the GMC ought to look through her files.
