GMC Dissociates From Dr Neil Bacon

GMC Shredding the evidence of any association

A long time ago, in a GMC Today far far away, Neil Bacon wrote an article that crowed away about how wonderful his website was about to be. Following a spate of bad publicity, the General Medical Council began to drive a wedge between iwantgreatcare and themselves.

It seems that nephrologist Neil Bacon is no longer their flavour of the month. It must be hard when your golden balls fall off Neil.

JD features the latest disaster on iwantgreatcare.org.

I am currently in conversation with the General Medical Council on these issues. I asked them about their links and associations with iwantgreatcare.org. This is what the GMC's response was

Dear Dr Pal

Thank you for your e-mail of 20 September 2008 in which you ask that we provide the associations/relationship/links between the GMC and the website iwantgreatcare.org. You also ask about similar links between the GMC and Dr Neil Bacon. You have asked for this information in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

I can confirm that, whilst the GMC are aware of the existence of this website, it has no links or associations with it.

Dr Bacon holds full registration with the GMC and so, as with every other registered medical practitioner, has an association in that respect.

Yours sincerely

Mark Ellen
